A history began with a young inventor

The founder of Kyowa Machinery, Hiroshi Tomosue, was a technical engineer. Being one who threw himself and his money into his research, it is not surprising that the family finances were tight and the rest of his family member had to work to make ends meet.

It then happened that his 14-year-old son Shigeo was given the Prime Minister's Award at a school student invention and innovation award sponsored by a major newspaper company. His invention was an egg washer with rolling brush. His family produced few hundreds of eggs for daily cash earnings, and he came up with the idea of egg washing machine because he had to wash so many of them everyday.

This article on the newspaper ran drew the attention of poultry farmers across Japan. Phone calls poured in with requests for the machine. This became a turning point to Hiroshi Tomosue to design the world's first automatic egg washer in 1959, and he founded small factory called Kyowa Machinery on the following year. Contracted exclusive license agreement with FMC Corporation for the egg transferring technology.
